Serena Williams Twirls To Her Second 2018 US Open Win In White Tutu Dress

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 09:52

Serena Williams is doubling down on her fashionable outfits at the ongoing US Open.

On 30 August, Williams stepped onto the court in a white Off-White x Nike outfit to defeat German tennis player Carina Witthöft in the second round of the tournament. She completed her playful tutu outfit with a pair of Off-White sneakers.

Similar to the black ballerina-inspired tutu that she had worn during her victorious debut match at the 2018 US Open, this white version features a one-sleeve silhouette and a tutu skirt. Williams twirled in front of the crowd like a ballerina after winning the match. She took to Instagram to post an image of herself with the caption, “Twirling into Friday!!”

Her fans had but positive comments for her, with one saying, “[T]hey’re mad cause you can wear anything and win!!! Keep twirling (and winning), Momma!” while another added, “That twirl is everything! You’re so awesome!!!”

How To Tell If A Design Studio Is Truly As Great As Advertised

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 08:46

If you’ve ever landed on an agency or startup’s website, you’re likely to have come across what is dubbed as a ‘logo soup’—a chain of logos representing the clients that the company has worked with.

Rachel Berger, chairperson of Graphic Design at the California College of the Arts, told Quartz that designers are most likely to display their clientele this way. Not only are they aware of the power of logo design, but they leverage ‘logo soups’ as a “shortcut” to establish themselves as successful professionals without having to explain their work.

These accolades should be a good gauge of a firm’s experience, right? Apparently not. As it turns out, you can’t really judge a studio’s work quality by how potent its ‘logo soup’ is.

At the Adobe 99U Conference, Emily Heyward, co-founder of renowned branding company Red Antler, described that she would “dig in to exactly what [designers] did” if she were a client.

A showcase of logos might imply that the firm is the creator of a prominent client’s logo—but for all you know, it could have just designed a landing page that one time.

“It’s very easy for people to throw up logos and claim they worked with them extensively…” Heyward added. “The Warby Parker logo is on every website in New York City.”

Another sign that calls for probing is if a firm displays a logo from a big name like Google. According to Berger, “the bigger the brand, the more skeptical” you should be. Additionally, the more brandings found in a company’s ‘logo soup’, “the less work I’ll think you’ve done.”

The one takeaway? It’s best to seek out the actual designers behind these logos, but if that’s not possible, it won’t hurt to dig deeper and inquire more about an agency’s work.

Balmain Casts CGI Models For Its Latest Campaign As It Expands Its Virtual Army

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 08:46

Could CGI models become increasingly common in fashion’s future?

So far you’ve seen the 19-year-old social media influencer Lil Miquela, who boasts north of 1.4 million Instagram followers and models in labels such as Chanel and Vetements, only she’s a virtual avatar. This however hasn’t stopped her from making her foray into music through collaboration with American record producer Baauer.

Then there’s ‘Shudu’, the “world’s first” digital supermodel who looks extraordinarily realistic.

If you thought digital models wouldn’t venture very far into the fashion realm, Balmain has a surprise for you. It’s casted three CGI models for its pre-fall 2018 digital campaign, where the creator of ‘Shudu’ has specially developed two of these.

Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing explained that the brand had contacted photographer Cameron-James Wilson—creator of ‘Shudu’—asking him to help the brand “construct a new, alternative and virtual Balmain Army.”

Thus, French ‘Margot’ and Chinese ‘Zhi’ CGI models were born. Together with ‘Shudu’, the duo stars in Balmain’s digital campaign for the collection, where the three models promote digital renditions of the clothes created by virtual fashion agency CLO.

“There’s one quality that immediately stands out when you look at the growing Balmain Army: an unfettered celebration of inclusion,” wrote the brand inside a press release. “Anyone and everyone is always welcome to join its growing ranks, they need only share our bold spirit of adventure.”

Lego Builds A Drivable, Life-Sized Bugatti Supercar Using Over A Million Pieces

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 07:21
[Click here to view the video in this article]

Lego seems to have outdone itself in this feat of engineering and design by recreating the Bugatti Chiron supercar as a life-sized, drivable model using over a million ‘Technic’ pieces.

Technic’ is Lego’s system of beams, axles, gear wheels and connectors that enable more complex Lego builds.

This life-sized model is one half passion project by the brand’s creative team, and one half promotion for display at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix on 30 August.

Brainstorming for the project took flight in June 2017, with construction initiating in March 2018. In total, the team spent “over 13,000 work hours of development and construction.”

The automobile doesn’t solely comprise Lego though. Certain parts including its steel frame, battery pair, 3D-printed gears, and real Bugatti wheels make up this 1,500kg beast.

While it doesn’t keep pace with the actual Bugatti Chiron that can clock up to 250mph, Lego managed to hit 13mph inside the video featured directly below, and notes that in theory, it can hit 19mph.

For those keen on their own Bugatti Chiron build, Lego is selling a 3,599-piece kit that will let you develop a 1:8 scale replica model.

Kanye West’s Epic Response To His Too-Tiny Yeezy Slides Cracks Up The Internet

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 07:21

Image via s_bukley / Shutterstock.com

It seems the internet can’t get enough of Kanye West’s too-tiny Yeezy slides, which the entrepreneur donned at rapper 2 Chainz’s wedding.

Since then, the confusing look has inspired a parody t-shirt that’s received West’s stamp of approval and now, an epic response from the man himself.

Yesterday, West took to Twitter with dramatically over-sized Yeezy slides in two images, where the first comes with the hilarious caption, “[A]re the slides big enough[?]”

The second photo, which sees West taking a full-length mirror selfie, clearly fails to calm the highly-amused Twitter crowd. The follow-up visual, which has since garnered more than 132,000 likes, shows just how absurd West’s new Yeezy slides truly are.

Have a good laugh at his comical responses below.

Meanwhile, the internet has come up with some humorous references after seeing West’s redesigned claw-like sole for an upcoming Yeezy model.

Drupal Behat - paragraph bundle entity reference

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 07:00

I am learning Behat with Drupal 8 and I'm stuck on trying to test a paragraph bundle (field_related_content) which has a title and description field, the title is an entity reference field to content type marine_notices. Currently I have the below, but the results are 'No link to Post Title', am I missing something?

@api Scenario: Reference site pages from within a "marine_notices" node Given "marine_notices" content: | title | | Post title | When I am viewing a "marine_notices" content: | title | Post title | | field_related_content | Post title - | Then I should see the link "Post title"

Adding values to referential entity using REST API POST in Drupal 8

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 07:00

I have 2 custom content type. One is movies and the other is actors. I am using REST API POST to add values into movies. Actor is a referential entity within movies. How do I add values into actors which are corresponding to a particular movie when I use POST?

An option that I am currently trying out is add multiple values into actors first and that POST will return a node id, use that node id value along POST values to movies. Is this the right approach?

Any input will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

How to redirect users after password reset from first time user

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 07:00

I am using hook function in my module to redirect users accordingly as below.

function mymodule_user_login($account) { if (!$account->getLastAccessedTime()) { // The user has never logged in before. return; } $response = new RedirectResponse('MyModuleFormUrl'); $response->send(); }

First time users coming from their corresponding emails are getting redirected to change password page able to set new password and existing users are redirected to form page after successful login. But the problem is how to redirect users after successfully setting their password to my module form. From the code above I thought it should happen automatically but it isn't. Can anyone suggest some ideas.

Trying to recreate site from backed up files

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 06:50

I have a full backup of the mysql data as well as the file structure/directories for a drupal 7.xx site we have.

Our current host shut the VPS down without warning and is having very much difficulty restoring it to an operating level.

I am attempting to spin up the site on another web host and have gotten somewhat close.

I moved all the drupal files and restored the mysql data. I've disabled the clean_urls, for now.

The only issue I'm currently seeing is, a lot of my custom views are not rendering on the site. When I attempt to view them through the admin, i get the following errors:

  • Display "Master" uses fields but there are none defined for it or all are excluded.
  • Display "Page" uses fields but there are none defined for it or all are excluded.
  • Display "Block" uses fields but there are none defined for it or all are excluded.

How do I fix the views so that the proper fields are associated with them? I created these views initially, but it was years ago and I'd rather not recreate them if I can figure out how to "restore" them.

Any pointers? As far as I can tell, all the fields and views data was properly restored from the mysql backup.

Strengthen Production Systems with Container Runtime Security

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 06:37

Container security is not a unitary action but a multifaceted process. It involves securing the build environment using secure code control and other strategies. The procedure also necessitates securing containers’ contents via code analysis and unit tests. At some point, organizations need to develop a plan to secure their containers in production systems, as well. […]… Read More

Selecting a Security Leader: Don’t Get Caught in No Man’s Land
