What is the difference between "Language: Not specified" & "Language: Not applicable" in Drupal 8 multilinguality?

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 12:33

What is the difference between Language: Not specified and Language: Not applicable in Drupal 8 In the context of multilinguality ?

There was no such distinction in Drupal 7 (and 6, IIRC) and it seems to me a bit redundant in comparison to the Drupal 7 method of Language: Natural vs Language: name. I also didn't find any documentation about this in a quick Google search about the difference and thought it would be nice if we would have an explanation here.

How to have a "ripple" when clicking anywhere on the page?

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 12:05

I want an effect like an expanding circular border that starts at whatever point the user clicks. I've searched everyone online for this but I can't seem to find a solution. Is this more complicated than I think?

How Apple’s 6.5-Inch ‘iPhone XS’ Could Outdo Its Other 2018 Models

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 11:45

Image via mariakraynova / Shutterstock.com

By now, you might have heard that Apple will most likely unveil three extensions of 2017’s iPhone X at its upcoming September 12 event: a 5.8-inch ‘iPhone XS’, a larger 6.5-inch version, and a budget-tier LCD model.

Apple was apparently caught in a “naming conundrum” for 2018’s lineup due to the fact that it had changed its branding sequence for iPhone X. According to people “familiar with the matter,” it went back and forth on the ‘iPhone XS’ moniker, which is apparently the name that stuck for both 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch smartphones.

The sources also said that the company deliberated on whether to drop the ‘Plus’ name for the larger 6.5-inch iPhone. The verdict still isn’t known to outsiders, though.

As the purported name suggests, 2018 should be an ‘S’ year, which means the new iPhones aren’t likely to sport radical changes like the iPhone X. However, Apple news site 9to5Mac—which got hold of what looks like a promo image for ‘iPhone XS’—expects that the 6.5-inch model will be “a giant upgrade.”

First and foremost, the screen of the larger ‘iPhone XS’ is said to be Apple’s largest smartphone display yet. Per schematics likely to have hailed from Apple insiders, the super-sized variation packs a 6.5-inch display inside a body that’s a little smaller than 2017’s iPhone 8 Plus, which has a 5.5-inch screen.

Evidently, the larger the display, the more features it can showcase. A report from Brazilian Apple news site iHelp BR suggests that the 6.5-inch ‘iPhone XS’ will have an iPad-like interface when landscape mode is summoned.

This means the gadget is likely to support side-by-side viewing of apps. When the ‘Calendar’ client is opened, for example, you’ll be shown the calendar on one side of the display, while your events will be screened on the other side. Under ‘Contacts’, you’ll be able to see a single contact card on one side with your full contact list on the other end.

Just like in the ‘Messages’ app for iPad, you’ll likely be able to view all your threads on the left and a single chat on the right. Essentially, the 6.5-inch ‘iPhone XS’ serves as a mini iPad.

Actress Bella Thorne Exudes Confidence Posing In A Bikini With Unshaven Armpits

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 11:45

Actress Bella Thorne is challenging conventional beauty standards in these promotional photos for her newly-released bikini.

While in New York City, Thorne modeled in her Filthy Fangs ‘Red Hot Bikini’ together with her sister Dani. These were captured in images that were subsequently shared to the Thorne’s Instagram.

Inside one image uploaded to her Instagram Stories, Bella wears her hair down while posing in the red bikini and red heels.

With her arms uplifted, the actress poses proudly to show off her unshaven armpits. This is not the first time Thorne has publicly addressed her natural body hair. The actress admitted that she didn’t shave after one Twitter user jokingly tweeted, “I bet @bella thorne is a weird girl that smells like BO and doesn’t shave,” to which she responded, “True story.”

Some female internet users have praised her for giving them the confidence to embrace their natural body hair, which tends to receive negative stigma when it comes to fashion and advertising. One Twitter user wrote, “I stopped shaving my armpits bc of u and i’ve been 100x more confident since doing it.”

Your First Look At Apple’s iPhone XS That Will Most Likely Debut On 12 September

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 11:45
[Click here to view the video in this article]

Apple has announced its special 12 September event, to be held at the Steve Jobs Theater, that is anticipated to include the debut of Apple’s three new iPhones.

Thanks to 9to5Mac, you will now get your first look at the iPhone XS via its exclusive video featured below.

This model will likely come with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch variant OLED screens, with a gold color option available as well. Apple initially leaked a gold rendition of the iPhone X through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), but this never made it to market.

Aside from the name of the new device, its two sizes, and the exclusive color, other details about the upcoming device have been scarce.

Stay tuned for the event on 12 September, where more details about the new iPhone XS will most probably be announced, together with the new Apple Watch Series, which may also be unveiled at the event.

In the meantime, the internet has found humor in the design of the 12 September event invite, which has earned references to The Ring and Stranger Things.

What Apple’s September 2018 Event Invite Hints About Its Upcoming Products

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 11:45

Screenshot via Apple

At long last, Apple has confirmed the date of its 2018 iPhone launch, which will fall on 12 September as predicted.

On Thursday, the company sent out invites to the press, and its vague artwork has not only incited comical responses from the internet, but also left guests puzzled.

The image shows a bronze metallic ring with the text, “Gather round.” To quote the ‘Double Rainbow’ guy, “What does it mean?”

It’s time to unpack what might be going on here. Check out some predictions based on past reports about the upcoming products and their designs.

For those who can’t wait to get their hands on the new iPhone models, find out when Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup is expected to open for preorders.

A post shared by Spectrum Report (@spectrumreport) on Aug 30, 2018 at 9:22am PDT

New color scheme

Soon after Apple sent out invites, what looks like a promo image for 2018’s iPhone XS—which is apparently what the purported 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch models will be called—surfaced online.

Pop culture site The Ringer speculates that Apple will be introducing a new metallic hue, and it could be right. The “leaked graphic” depicts the smartphones in the same color as the ring in the invite.

Further, Apple filed a gold iPhone design with the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which smartphone companies must share details with prior to releasing products.

Apple coined its pink iPhone ‘Rose Gold’. What might this color be called?

What “gather round” could mean

According to Inverse, there’s a likelihood that the tagline, “Gather round,” could be a reference to Apple’s yet-to-be-released wireless charging pad, the AirPower, which it announced during 2017’s September event.

“Gather round,” might be “the process of gathering” a series of Apple products around the charger.

The circular shape likely pays homage to the event venue

— AppleInsider (@appleinsider) August 30, 2018

The most obvious reference might be that the ring-shaped graphic seemingly inspired by the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, where the event will be held.

Gather round your devices on 12 September 2018 at 10am PDT. Apple will be streaming the event on its website and according to BGR that cited an insider source, apparently through Twitter this year as well.

Internet Responds Comically To Apple’s September 2018 Event Invite Design

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 11:45

Apple has released invites for its 12 September event that has the internet abuzz.

This current excitement stems less from anticipation over its potentially new trio of iPhone models for 2018, but rather, the design of the event invite.

The cryptic proposal sports a glowing ring in rose gold followed by the words, “Gather round.”

“Please join us for an Apple special event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino,” continues the invitation.

Since its reveal, the internet has wasted little time in creating comical memes referencing pop culture including films such as The Ring and Stranger Things.

Which Linux certification should I go for if I want to certify at a system engineer level?

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 11:35

I haven't certified on anything yet, so I will need to start at the beginning. It looks like the main three are Red Hat, Linux Foundation, and LPI. Otherwise, I could try compTIA Linux, or the Oracle courses, as I would like to be Unix certified as well. Which of these would hold the most clout at a job interview? I was leaning towards the Linux Foundation because I found a moderately priced study guide, and could use that to teach myself everything I don't know, also they offer online certification. If anyone can offer any advice, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks.

Add new data to field that support multiple field via JSONAPI

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 10:58

I am using jsonapi to PATCH(update) a content in a content type called "engagement". All the APIs including patch are working fine. However, when I am trying to update a new value to a field with multiple value support, it is replacing existing content with new one added. So, if I already had 2 value and later add one via PATCH. It replaces the first with the new one.

  1. Request type: PATCH
  2. Post Body:

    { "type":"node--engagement", "id":"a799952f-0528-409e-bf9b-707469e35d68", "attributes":{ "body":{ "format":"full_html" } }, "relationships":{ "field_attendance":{ "data":[ { "type":"paragraph--attendance", "id":"12qw", "meta":{ "target_revision_id":"12" } } ] } } }

The field am referring to is field_attendance. I am able to add any no. of data while updating/creating. However not able to update new ones.

How do I test a paragraph bundle entity reference with Behat?

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 10:58

I am learning Behat with Drupal 8 and I'm stuck on trying to test a paragraph bundle (field_related_content) which has a title and description field, the title is an entity reference field to content type marine_notices. Currently I have the below, but the results are 'No link to Post Title', am I missing something?

@api Scenario: Reference site pages from within a "marine_notices" node Given "marine_notices" content: | title | | Post title | When I am viewing a "marine_notices" content: | title | Post title | | field_related_content | Post title - <front> | Then I should see the link "Post title"

Adding values to referential entity using REST API POST

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 10:58

I have 2 custom content type. One is movies and the other is actors. I am using REST API POST to add values into movies. Actor is a referential entity within movies. How do I add values into actors which are corresponding to a particular movie when I use POST?

An option that I am currently trying out is add multiple values into actors first and that POST will return a node id, use that node id value along POST values to movies. Is this the right approach?

How do I dump variables to the screen when running PHPUnit tests?

Fri, 08/31/2018 - 10:58

I'm trying to put together some PHPUnit tests in Drupal 8. I'm running the tests from the command line, using /vendor/bin/phpunit, but I'm having troubles figuring out how to dump a variable to the screen for debugging purposes.

For that matter, I'm using this:

$this->assertEquals(2, $this->currentUser->id(), 'ID is correct');

And when it passes, the message 'ID is correct' is not shown in the console. Does anyone know how to make the error messages properly show?
